OUR STORY
Lucy De Leon is a proud Latina businesswoman, and the heart and soul behind La Patroncita, a Mexican restaurant nestled in the vibrant culinary landscape of Portland, Oregon.
Her journey began working in the fields as a 7-year-old migrant worker, working hard alongside her family. These early experiences instilled in her the values of perseverance and resilience. As a migrant family, they dreamed of a better life, and she carried that dream in her heart throughout her upbringing.
Years later, her parents started Tortilleria y Tienda De Leon’s, a grocery store and deli in Northeast Portland. Their focus was on crafting authentic and flavorful food with the finest ingredients. In recent years Lucy has become the owner of the manufacturing site and deli and relocated her business to Southeast Portland, changing names to Salsas Locas. She sells her food to both grocery stores and schools.
Lucy’s dream did not stop there. It had always been her ambition to bring the magic of her family's culinary traditions to a sit-down restaurant setting. That's when La Patroncita came to life. In the heart of Portland, we opened our doors, inviting you to experience the rich tapestry of Mexican flavors that have been part of her journey.
La Patroncita is not just a restaurant; it's a labor of love. With every dish we serve, we share a piece of our story, our culture, and the warmth of our Mexican heritage. Our menu is a fusion of time-honored recipes and innovative creations, lovingly prepared with the freshest ingredients and the essence of home.
As a Latina entrepreneur, Lucy is committed to fostering a sense of community and belonging in our beloved Portland. She believes in creating opportunities for others, just as she was given the chance to pursue her dreams. At La Patroncita and Salsas Locas, we aim to celebrate diversity, embrace the spirit of inclusivity, and provide a platform for local talent to shine.
Thank you for being part of our story. We can't wait to welcome you to La Patroncita, where every dish is a testament to our dreams fulfilled.
¡Buen provecho!
